Brief overview of your career to date:
I ‘fell’ into the world of recruitment not long after graduating with a Marketing Management degree back in 2005. HR has always been my area of specialism and something I am very passionate about. Understanding how businesses can benefit from getting the best out of their people through good HR practise is essential in the modern world.

My specialism is nice and simple; I take time to listen, understand and question our customers to identify their individual and business needs allowing us to identify the best HR solutions for them.
Interesting fact(s) about you:
I have two crazy cockapoos called Ruby and Maggie who are always causing havoc! I have run the Paris and London Marathons but never want to do another one again!

She has over 25 years’ International HR generalist and employment law experience within a diverse range of business sectors, including: Financial Services; Local Government; Automotive; Retail; managed FM services; Social and Supported Housing; Digital Design and Communication Agencies; Professional Services; Manufacturing; International Development and Professional Membership bodies.
Gail is a seasoned professional; she is driven by providing solutions, is an excellent communicator and able to influence employee engagement to shift cultural and behavioural change to improve business performance. She has extensive experience of business transformation and re-structures, strategic and operational solutions, with union negotiation and employee relations case management.

I try and undertake some form of volunteering. Volunteering has included fostering rescue dogs; CIPD sponsored career advice and support; Independence Age. I love visiting new places and am an avid reader, but nothing too serious.

I’ve got over 20 years generalist HR experience working with managers and employees to achieve optimum solutions. In this time, I’ve worked with a variety of organisations from a start-up to global corporates in industries including engineering, tech, media and education.
My focus has always been on treating people well and ensuring that the HR function is viewed positively across the businesses I’ve worked in.
I have also worked as a Career Coach helping people to identify ways to navigate the job-hunting process, develop their careers and achieve their goals.

My background as a generalist involves me with most areas of HR including recruitment and selection, onboarding new staff, developing policies, performance management and disciplinary matters.

I have two brilliant sons and a husband who keep me entertained. I have literally walked over burning hot coals as part of a fire walk experience for a local hospice.

I am an experienced and seasoned HR professional with over 25 years’ experience and have held HR roles up to Board level. I have worked in a broad range of sectors including finance, defence engineering, environmental management, professional services, education, manufacturing, adult social care, and hospitality.
I am committed to delivering high quality, values-driven, first-class, accessible HR solutions and services. I have a proven track record in managing all aspects of HR but have developed a specific skill set for managing complex employee and industrial relations; process, organisation and system improvements; leadership and management development; training; and HR policy/compliance creation.
I am Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, and I hold a Six Sigma Green Belt, a Diploma in HR Management, a CIPD Level 5 qualification in Employment Law and an OCN National Certificate in Mediation. I am also registered member of the British Psychological Society’s Professional Testing Centre, a trained executive coach, a certified management consultant, and a Master NLP practitioner.

I specialise in employment law with a specific focus on complex disciplinary investigations. I am also a qualified workplace mediator and I strongly believe mediation is a powerful alternative to grievance mangement. I have a passion for supporting organisations to improve their systems, processes and operations to generate cost efficiencies and more effective practices. I really enjoy designing and delivering training courses and coaching programmes for individuals and teams.

I am a Lay Member for the Employment Appeals Tribunal Service, a Non-Executive Director (HR) and Trustee for a local Academy Schools Trust. I am a keen horse rider, and animal lover – I have two mini donkeys! My other passions include good radio drama, theatre, and live music events….and I make a mean vegetarian chilli.
